Our growing Young Church exists to encourage and nurture children, young people and families in their Christian faith. All are welcome to this informal group each Sunday, where we aim to offer a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which to explore our faith and grow together as Christians. For peace of mind, all of our Young Church adult leaders are CRB checked.
Our Young Church members get involved in a number of activities each week, which typically include arts/crafts and story telling, which are usually related to topical events in the church year.
What happens on Sunday morning
The Young Church starts at 10am in one of the vestry rooms to the front, right of church. The children and young people are greeted by Clara, Celia and our other leaders, and newcomers will be welcomed and guided through the session. They will then start their activities, which continue until the offertory of the main Eucharist (which also starts at 10am).
At this point, the Young Church members process in as part of the offertory, and will sometimes offer their art work to Fr David. They then remain, as a group, in the choir stalls, where they can see all the action for the final part of the mass. They follow their mass using their own Mass Book for Children which they also colour in during their group time.
The whole congregation, young and old combined, enjoy refreshments at the end of the service.
